GRANNY squares

Trying something NEW :)  I thought I use some of my left over yarn and try making the granny square.  Once I got the hang of it, they seem to be pretty simple to make.  I truly enjoy crocheing it relaxes me and I love the different texture of the yarns.  It have gotten so at ease with the stitching that it doesn't even seem to phase me when I have to take my project apart and start from the beginning (which is very often).  I get into my groove and fall into a pattern and seem to forget that counting is a very important part in crocheting.  Hopefully someday this will end up being a fabulous multicolor blanket.

Halloween Pillow Cover

Halloooooooweeen :)

One of my favorite holidays!  I made this pillow cover with W/B felt.  I added a piece of muslin fabric to the back of the pillow to create an envelope style opening.  It was easier to sew and it wasn't  as bulky when I layered the fabrics.   I love the fact that I didn't have to worry about the felt  fraying (except the piece of muslin) so it was very simple to make.  Measure, Cut, Sew RSO, my kind of project ;)

CELL PHONE case

NEW phone calls for a colorful phone case.  It was time to update our cell plan which is always a great thing for my hubby. He likes all that new tech out there (small , thin, internet).  I am happy and content with the phone that I have right now.  I don't need all that fancy technology on my phone. Well,  I know that if I have it, I will use it.  But at the moment I was a  happy little camper with my tough, scratched, beat up cell.   The new phones are thin, paper thin! I needed something to keep this baby from getting all banged up. I  also needed to be able to find it in my purse.  I believe I have accomplished what I needed.  It will not get lost in my purse because it is so cute and colorful and I will be able to find it in no time ;)

TRASH to TREASURE

UNION JACK FLAG

I know I am a COPYCAT!  who cares, when there are so many wonderful ideas that can be borrowed.  I feel that as long as I give credit to the people/bloggers that have inspired me, it's ok ;)  Remeber when Jenny posted this.   Secretely, I so wanted to make something Bristish for the longest time.  I just didn't know what I wanted to make.  The opportunity came up when I found this little stool and it became my treasure.  Hubby was with me when I found it and quoting him "why do you want that trash" I answered him because I want to make something fabulous.  Not quite like that but in my mind I already knew what I wanted to do with it.  If I would have explained it to him, he just wouldn't have understood.   well here it is!  I am LOVING it.... Oh, I didn't know that the red stripes in the corner of the Union Jack Flag had to be drawn a certain way.  I learn something knew every day...

POTTERY BARN inspired pillow

POTTERY BARN PILLOWS

My imitation to the PB pillows.  Yes, I adore that store and everything in it.  I have been eyeing these pillows for quite sometime and unfortunately I just can't see myself paying $29.00 for a pillow case (shoes Ok, pillow, nah so ok).   This all started as a table runner but it was kind of wonky (not straight) when I laid it on the table.  I put it aside cause I didn't want to deal with it.  So today I was flipping through the PB catalogue and the lovely pillows popped up. I realized that I could use my table runner to tackle this project.  They are not as snug as the PB and the buttons are not measured properly I just eyed them.  I am still thrill with the results.  I will make a few more, it kind of adds some character to the room.  I also made one with pipping and the other one in the back with a flange.  Please ignore the big kiddy frame behind the couches!  This is my husbands play(game) room and he just can't seem to part with this frame.  We've had it for 22 yrs.  You would think he would let go ;)

HEART garland

When I saw this cute heart Garland at Insanely Crafty I fell in love with it.  I knew eventually I would have to make one.  Jess made hers out of felt in beautiful reds, pinks and browns and her decorations were done with embroidery (check out her tutorials she is amazingly talented).  The photo she took to display her garland it was just  lovely.  I created mines out of card stock.  It was definitely not as cute but I needed it NOW because I wanted/needed to use it in a photo. I didn't have the time or the patience to make it.  It's alot shorter and not as cute, but I really love the way this picture came out. I took this garland all the way from Germany to Gainesville because I wanted/needed to take this picture.  You know who and Gio thought I was CRAZY!!!! but it was Mother's day so they went along with my insanity, lol...

some THINGS I'm enjoying today

BaSkEt LiNeR

I love baskets and I adore the way they look lined.  So I decided to try to make my own for this cute little basket I purchased the other day.  It is far from perfect but I am liking the way it came out.  Doesn't is look purrrrrty with my nectarines inside ;)

SkIrT

My dining room chairs  have been needing a make over for quite some time now but I just didn't have the courage to do it.  I didn't want to juts upholster the entire chair.
I was looking  to make cute skirts for them but didn't really know how to start.  So I decided to try making one for a toddler chair before I would tackle the real thing.  I used some muslin and added piping and finished it with ribbon to tie bows.  It's not perfect and it's my first time using piping but I definitely love the way it looks.  It also gave me the courage I needed to try it on my dining room chairs.

BUTTONS

Can you believe I bought this large bucket of buttons for 2,00euros!!!  I was so excited when she told me the price that I didn't even bargain (which is a very rare thing for me).   I just need to find a fabulous glass jar to display them.  I love looking at them ;)

These two are so darn cute together. I asked Josanna if she would let me take a few photos of Patrick and her before they left on their new journey back home and she did not hesitate for a minute. The camera love these two!!! I took tons of photos and they came out amazing in all of them. Thank you for taking the time to let me practice with you guys. I had a great time :)

Gio's "GRADUATION" photoshoot

Afetr a little persuaing, begging and pleading I was able to do a mini photoshoot with Gio right before we left Gainesville. There was no room for error since I knew there was no way in heck he  would let me retake them.  I am so happy he caved in and spent some quality time with his mama because I now have some great memories of this event.  I can't blame Gio for not wanting to take more pictures, he had already dedicated the day before graduation to me to take all the pictures I needed/wanted with his cap and gown.  I had taken tons of graduation pictures all over the University the day before graduation with his cap and gown, so he had enough of the picture taken for the entire year.

SOCIALITE DRESS

I've been wanting to make the (Socialite Dress by Anna Maria)  for quite sometime.  So this morning  I finally got the courage and decided that I needed an easter dress.  This is not your tipical Easter dress but just something that I could wear today.  I made it with some linen that Ivan had bought me in  the states about 2 years ago.  It's was kind of plain, so I made a flower brooch to go with it. It addded some charm and color to it.  I also wore it with a belt because I thought  it looked like a potatoe sack on me.   It is definitely a design that I will have to wear with a belt because it is not (at all)  very flattering on me.

CROCHET HATS

Most of you have already seen these hats but my teachers have no idea that I have been able to learn this skill yet.  After 2 years of trial and error I have finally learn how to crochet. I am loving it!!! I want to thank both of my wonderful and very patient teachers Corinnea and Adrianne for not giving up on me and encouraging me to continue to crochet eventhough I was ready to give up on myself.

baby SIENNA's LO

These are not very good photos but there are the photos that were taken in the hospital.  I thought I create a LO and a birth announcement.  I told our niece we could change the picture when she gets a better one if she wants.

FUN PHOTO SHOOTS

While I was back in the states I thought I try and capture our nieces cute belly and my sons and his girlfriend happy moments.  These are a some of the pictures I took.  I had in mind a few photos of each but it turn out to be tons of each.  We all had such a great time together that they didn't even fuss about all the photos I was taking.

Niece's Prego Pic

Our niece had her Baby Shower last weekend.  Her mother had taken some pictures of her so that they can be placed on the tables. She emailed the photos to us to see them since we weren't going to be there. I thought I play a little with them in photoshop.  They were happy with the results and so was I. This girl is 7 months pregnant and she look fantastic!  She's gained 7 lbs so far (can you believe that)! She is a health freak, so I guess that pays off.

She has asked me to make her a scrapbook of her pregnancy and her baby shower.  This is one of the LO.

NEW QUILTS

 BACKING
I had some extra  blocks so I decided to piece to the back.  I am glad I did because I like it a lot!
Gio's GF's quilt... Free Spirit - Lovebirds and Butterflies. Love this new line specially the lobebirds.  You can't really see it but some of the blocks are the lovebirds (my favorites of course)....Just needs the binding, yackkkkkkk....
Go's quilt
This one has been quilted for about a month already and is sitting on my couch just waiting for the binding which I have been procrastinating cause I just dislike it soooo darn much :)
